History matters

I believe history matters and is very important in todays getneration. Without history we would have no trace of the past. What would we learn in out social studie classes? We can learn from histories mistakes and maybe the government change the way things were done. Maybe we could fix the recession thats taking place or the wars that are happening. History for examples documents are the things that we can learn from or have information about what took place before some of us were even on this earth. 

topic of my choice

My favorite blogging topic from first quarter was the blog about history lying and the quote said by Thoreau "that governenment is best which governs least" That topic was very easy for me to write about i knew exactly what i thought about the situation, we had talked about it in class and i was set on what it ment. It makes it alot easier if the topic your writing about is something your familiar with and understand. Anything someone doesnt get isnt gonna be that easy or fun to write about. So i was really looking forward to write about this because i felt it was easy and i knew what i wanted to say about it.

blogs vs paper and pen

Blogging seems great using computers to turn in your h.w? Thats usually not how teachers choose to do it. I rather have to do assignments over the computer rather than having to turn in a bunch of papers and worrying bout loosing them or misplacing them. Doing assignments over the computer make it easier to keep track of your work. Although sometimes its overwhelming if you get behind since things arent actually due that week sometimes ill put it off to the next week and ill have 4 blogs to do, and the weekly articles i feel are kinda hard for me especially if i get behind on my blogs. But i do like blogging rather then using pen and paper.

Ellis Island

Seeing the pictures the immigrants coming to the united states probabley had mixed emotions or didnt even know what to do or how to feel. some may have felt happy and relieved and some might have felt scared and were not ready but knew its what they had to do. The experience seemed very chaotic. So many people all trying to get to the same place. Probabley are not grasping what they are really gonna have to go through just looking at the possible good outcome.

Reading the lyrics, life for the textile workers seemed brutal and depressing. Sounds like they worked many hours and the labor was hard. The women had no strength no breaks no food in their system, working constantly on an empty stomach. They dont get rewards or anything in return for there hard work. Day and night they are worn out and need a break but still they have to keep working. Thats all they know stitching clothing. Working in horrible conditions starvation and poverty but yet they have to keep going and pull through. The more they keep working in these conditions it could lead to death. The factory owner is more concerned with the clothing than the human beings that are working so hard.

Games instead of books?

Gaming could potentially connect with learning because what kids want to read and learn from a textbook. Interactive games will definatley keep students interested. For example oregon trail basically lets you decide and choose how you want to go about your journey. Oregon trail allows you to make decisions on your way as needed through out your journey. Hunt for food. It puts you in situtions that you will need to learn and figure out how to go about dealing with. For example managing money to buy supplies along the way or if anyone you are traveling with is hurt. Instead of reading about peoples journey why not experience one yourself with playing a game im sure students would much rather be playing a game.
